Please feel free to add to the following tips, living here in the southwest USA (Phoenix, Arizona) we have to be extra cautious about how the heat is effecting our pets. Top five safety tips to protect pets from extreme heat/temps. 1. If the temperature is hot and you cannot step on the sidewalk with your bare feet comfortably then your dog can't either - be aware of their feet and keep them off hot surfaces. 2. Never leave your pet inside a parked car. Even with the windows rolled down, temperatures will quickly exceed what the animal's body can safely handle. Not to mention; IT IS AGAINST THE LAW! 3.Always carry water - for yourself and your pet. 4. Dogs can sunburn; their skin is as sensitive as ours. If you're going to the beach or will be outdoors for an extended period of time, use sunblock that's approved for animals with natural ingredients. 5. Make sure your animals are up-to-date on their vaccinations and preventative medications. Pest generally are more popular in the summer months (ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, etc)..
