I took my dogs for a walk recently and the older dog found a piece of bread. He did not eat it, but proceeded to carry it around in his mouth. The 11-months-old puppy did not make an attempt to take the bread from him.
When we got to the house, I took the bread out of the older dog's mouth. The second he no longer had it, the puppy jumped and grabbed the bread from my hand.
Is this a normal puppy behavior or does this show that the puppy does not view me as her alpha?
